Naval
units

the
Italian
contingent
intervened
in
the
Gulf
to
control
the
application
of
the
UN
embargo
towards
Iraq. The
pertinent
area
is
situated
between
the
27°
and
51°
parallels;
the
task
consists
of
providing
intermittent
naval
patrol
operations
in
the
Tiran
Straits
and
along
its
approaches,
with
the
purpose
to
examine
and
report
any
interference
with
free
